A team of 100 Ugandan cyclists has been flagged off to represent the country at the 2025 Jubilee Live Free Race in Nairobi, set for Sunday, October 5 at Nyayo Stadium.

The international event will host over 3,500 participants from more than 20 countries.

Now in its fourth year, the race has become a major platform for both sport and social impact.

This year, it will support mobility by providing prosthetic limbs to children, promote environmental stewardship through school food towers, and encourage wellness via cycling and community programs.

Uganda will compete for the third consecutive year, aiming to build on its strong performances.

“Sport brings people together, inspires action, and shapes healthier habits. We wish our cyclists the very best as they fly the national flag,” said Linda Byaruhanga, Chief Distribution Officer at Jubilee Life Insurance, at the flag-off.

The race features several categories: Main Race (75 km), Team Race (75 km), Black Mamba (45 km), Para Cyclists (45 km), Family Fun Ride (15 km), and Kiddie Race (1 km).

Winners in competitive categories will share UGX 107.3 million in cash and additional prizes.

Ismael, one of Uganda’s cyclists, said, “We are ready to give our best and hope for a positive outcome. We also look forward to connecting with riders from around the world.”

The Ugandan team joins the wider cycling community in Nairobi, aiming to extend its podium record while promoting sporting excellence and social change.
