2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 16 | Fixture | Friday February 13,

  • NEC FC Vs KCCA FC – 8 pm | Phillip Omondi Stadium

KCCA co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo has set the tone for the second round, insisting every remaining match is a final as the 13-time champions chase their first league title in years.

Speaking ahead of the Lugogo derby against NEC, Ssenyondo left no room for doubt about the task at hand.

“We have 15 finals and if we win all of them, it means we will be champions at the end of the season,” he said.

KCCA return on 30 points, six behind leaders Vipers SC and five adrift of second placed Kitara. The gap is narrow, but any slip-up could prove costly in a tight title race.

Next up is NEC, a side refreshed in the transfer window and eager to improve on a disappointing first round. Still, Ssenyondo’s focus remains on his own team.

“It is a tough game but we want to come back stronger after what happened towards the end of the first round and start on a high note,” he said.

“We are not sure of the team they will put out because they have made some additions, but we shall focus on ourselves, play well and try to win.”

NEC are coached by former KCCA tactician Badru Kaddu, who was part of the club’s successful era under Mike Mutebi.

They have reportedly added Richard Basangwa, Muhammad Ssenoga, Rashid Kawawa, Tony Atukunda and Hakim Wandera to their squad.

Despite the reinforcements, NEC sit seventh with 20 points. They will draw confidence from recent meetings, having won three of the last five league encounters against KCCA.

For KCCA, the objective is clear. A win would close the gap at the top and complete a league double over NEC after their 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture, where Said Mayanja scored twice.

Elsewhere, leaders Vipers travel to Njeru to face BUL, while UPDF host Buhimba United Saints in Bombo.
