The FUFA Executive Committee has confirmed Akii Bua Stadium in Lira district as the host of the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup final.

It is the first time in five years that the Northern Region play hosts in this competition’s final.

The last time it hosted the final was in the 2017/18 season when KCCA FC defeated Paidha Black Angels 2-0 in Arua.

“The FUFA Executive Committee approved Northern Region Football Association to host the Final of the Uganda Cup 2022/2023 season. The final will be hosted in Lira at Akii Bua Stadium,” the statement noted.

Last season’s final was played at King George Stadium in Masindi as BUL FC defeated league champions Vipers SC 3-1.

Akii Bua Stadium is the home for newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Blacks Power FC.

The 2022/23 Uganda Cup campaign is tentatively scheduled to begin on January 10th, 2023 at the Round of 64.
