The Uganda National Ludo Team, the Uganda Doves, edged South Africa 1-0 in extra-time to win the 2023 Africa Ludo Cup Of Nations (AL-CON) tournament in Ikageng Hall in Pretoria South Africa .
Uganda had previously won the inaugural Africa Ludo Nations Tournament in South Africa Jahannesburg in 2021.
The defending champions defeated South Africa 1-0 in extra-time after being tied on three rounds (8-8) ,(3-3) and (6-6) to retain the championship.


The tournament had sixteen teams at the continental stage including; Uganda ,South Africa, Togo ,Cameroon ,Zimbabwe, Cote D’ivore ,Nigeria , Zambia ,Mozambique, Mauritius , Lesotho, Egypt, Namibia, Eritrea ,Malawi and Madagascar.
Uganda’s duo Mubiru Emmanuel who was in group G and Nagadya Beth who was in group D won two gold medals in the Individual tournament.
Uganda Doves player Mubiru Emmanuel was awarded the MVP of the tournament.

The second edition had the introduction of the female categories that were played in Durban on 27th and 28th September and the female teams included South Africa, Cote D’ivore, Zambia, Nigeria, and Mozambique.
Uganda didn’t participate in the females category after failing to have the minimum number of participants for the various categories and South African female National team, Bafana Queens, won the categories.

Kalule Hussein, the Africa Ludo Federation president and the ALF General Secretary, Joe Matheta, presided over the awarding ceremony.
