The Uganda U20 Women’s Football National Team, the Queen Cranes, are in action tonight at 8PM (EAT) against Senegal in the third play off game.

Cape Coast stadium will be the hosting venue as Uganda and Senegal battle for the bronze medal in the 2023 All Africa Games in Ghana.

Uganda lost 2-0 to Nigeria while Senegal lost 1-3 to hosts Ghana in the semifinals, making the two defeated teams with only the third place playoff to fight for.

Sherly Botes will have a chance to win a medal for any Uganda Women Football Team for the first time since she was appointed head coach.

“We are ready and prepared to face Senegal. Every game requires a different approach and we have tried to look at that in our preparations and I am optimistic that we shall be able to win,” she said.

With this being the final game at the tournament, the coach wants to make a blend of players that have been playing regularly and those that have been on the fringes.

“We will see how we can play and maintain our structure and approach and strike a balance between players that have been playing and those who have had minimal appearance.” She stated.

In the previous game, Queen Cranes Phiona Nabulime got an injury at the death of the game but she has recovered and trained with team.

Defender Docus Lwalisa and midfielder Krusum Namutebi who missed the last game against Nigeria due to accumulated cards, are back and available for selection.

Probable line up for Uganda:

Sharon Kaidu (GK), Claire Kebirungi, Phiona Nabulime, Shakirah Nankwanga, Docus Lwalisa, Krusum Namutebi, Shamusa Najjuma, Latifah Nakasi, Catherine Nagadya, Zaina Nandede, Margret Kunihira
