The champions of Burundi, Buja Queens, have narrowly defeated FAD FC 2-1 to advance to the semifinals and joins JKT Queens, Vihiga Queens and Commercial Bank Of Ethiopia.
Buja came into the game as favorites, but FAD FC, who had lost all of their previous games, held Buja to a 0-0 draw at halftime.
In the second half, FAD FC had more chances but they were unable to capitalize.

Buja Queens scored the first goal in the 74th minute through Ruth Ingosi, who headed in Asha Djafari‘s corner.
FAD FC surprisingly found a late equalizer through Nadia Nour in the 85th minute, but Buja Queens restored their lead in the 88th minute through Topister Situma‘s header, her 4th goal in the tournament.
Buja Queens have now joined C.B.E FC as the second team to advance to the semifinals from group A. C.B.E FC defeated Yei Joint Stars 4-0 in the earlier game.
The result means that Kampala Queens finished third on the table and failed to advance to the semifinals, becoming the first club from the hosting country to fail to go past the group stages.
The semifinals will see JKT Queens battle with Buja Queens while 2021 winners Vihiga Queens will take on C.B.E FC, a team they beat to win the championship.
The semifinals will be played on Sunday, August 27th, 2023, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Uganda.
The two winners will advance to the final, which will be played on August 30th, 2023, at the same venue.
The winner of the 2023 CAF WCLZQ will represent the CECAFA region in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November 2023.
