The CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers (2023 CAF WCLZQ) resume today with two games in Group A, with C.B.E FC taking on Yei Joint Stars and Buja Queens facing FAD FC.
C.B.E FC are currently top of the group with 7 points, level with second-placed Kampala Queens FC.
However, Kampala Queens have already played all their group stage games, while C.B.E FC have one game remaining.

C.B.E FC
C.B.E FC need to avoid a defeat of two goals or more to reach the semifinals, while a win would guarantee them top spot in the group.
The Ethiopian side will be looking to reach the semifinals for the third time in a row and maybe reach the finals for the second time.
Loza Abera, Aregash Taddese, and Temsegen Tanga are the players to watch for C.B.E FC, as they have been the team’s best players so far in the tournament.
Buja Queens are third in the group with 6 points, one point behind C.B.E FC and Kampala Queens.

Buja Queens
A win over FAD FC would guarantee them a place in the semifinals, regardless of the result of the other game.
Buja Queens lost their opening game to C.B.E FC, but bounced back with a 2-1 win over Kampala Queens and a narrow 1-0 victory over Yei Joint Stars.
The Burundian champions will be relying on captain Asha Djafari and club’s goal scorer Teopister Situma to get the job done against FAD FC, who have lost all their group stage games so far.
Kampala Queens are out of the running for the semifinals, but they will be hoping for a miracle to happen.
If Buja Queens lose to FAD FC and Yei Joint Stars defeat C.B.E FC by three goals or more, then Kampala Queens would sneak into the last four.
Fazila Ikwaput is the tournament’s leading scorer with 8 goals, while Loza Abera and Teopister Situma have 3 each. They will all be looking to add to their tally in the race for the golden boot.
The top two teams from Group A will join JKT Queens and Vihiga Queens, who have already reached the semifinals from Group B.
The winner of the tournament will represent the CECAFA region in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November this year.
