Substitute Zaina Nandede‘s late equalizer canceled out Loza Abera‘s early goal for Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in a 1-1 draw at Njeru, to keep Kampala Queens’ semifinal hopes alive.

In a game Kampala Queens FC needed to win to improve their chances of making it out of the group stages, all the plans were put on hold when Loza Abera ran past defenders to find Temesgen Tanga‘s through ball and beautifully beat goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro to calmly put the ball at the back of an empty net.

C.B.E continued to dominate the game and the first half ended in 1-0 in their favor.

Into the second half, Kampala Queens FC head coach Charles Ssenyange, introduced Zainah Nandede, Hadijah Nandago, Shamirah Nalugya and Cathrine Nagadya to hunt for goals.

Kampala Queens FC’s best chance was when Fazila Ikwaput nearly equalized after beating the goalkeeper with a low shot but her effort was cleared off the line.

The Queens of Soccer almost lost hope for getting at least a point from the game when the fourth official indicated additional time of only four minutes.

It was a moment of relief when Zaina Nandede equalized with a belter of a header off Sumayah Komuntale‘s well delivered cross with just seconds to the end of the game.

The referee ended the game as Kampala Queens denied C.B.E a chance to storm semifinals spot with a game in hand.

Kampala Queens’ destiny nolonger in their hands

However, C.B.E are still on top of the table with 7 points from three games and only need a draw in their last game against Yei Joint Stars to make it to the semifinals.

Kampala Queens FC are now second with 4 points from three games and will need to win the last game against FAD FC as they pray Buja Queens fail to win their two remaining games.

The top two teams from group A, will face the JKT Queens and Vihiga Queens in the semifinals and the winner of the championship will represent East Africa in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November this year.

They played really well,CBE has quality, has experience in that tournament (3 editions),has players with experience and many more,so Kampala Queens WFCC really played so well,at least we have seen some beautiful football being played by a Ugandan coach and team.
