Omara Samuel netted the winning goal as his side FC Luzira defeated Edgars Youth Programme 4-3 on Friday evening in their opening game of the campaign.

The Luzira based club needed two late goals to complete a comeback and defeat Edgars’ who had proved difficult to penetrate.

With all signs pointing to a Luzira loss, Futsal Super League MVP Omara Samuel stepped up when it mattered most firstly to level matters at 3-all, and later score a winner with arguably the last kick of the game.

Before, Wasswa Amiri had scored two goals to add on Brian Olwa’s opener. This put Edgars 3-2 up after Luzira’s two goals were scored by Aziku Joshua and Ogwang Joel.

With the victory and having played just one game, Luzira move to three points and are now level on points in Group A with Edgars, who have played a game more.

Luzira FC captain Omara described the hard fought win as a teamwork effort.

“I feel happy to be on the score sheet, but most importantly helping my team get a hard fought win, they are a good team that play together but by God’s grace we are grateful for the win.”

“We shall work upon a few mistakes and we shall win our next games.” He said

FC Luzira will play Makerere University next in their last group stages game while Edgars’ group stages games are now over.

The 2023 Futsal Uganda Cup games will resume next Friday with two group B games. Kabowa Dream Team will play ASKA, while Friends of Football will battle First Touch Sports FC.
