This year’s National Boxing Open Championship gloves went off yesterday with the finals as boxers punched for gold medals.
The week-long event was a platform to pick new faces for the 2023 Uganda Boxing Champions League with the finalists qualifying automatically.
With the pressure of joining the elite class off their shoulders, excellent skills were on display on the 9th of March 2023 inside the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
Three boxing clubs shined the brightest with Lukanga taking the overall gong while Uganda People’s Defense Force and Cobap bagged the Elite and Youth victories.
In front of a big crowd, Lukanga won a brand new motorcycle on top of the gold medals thanks to the Uganda Boxing Federation.
