The Uganda U20 Women’s Football National Team, the Queen Cranes, ejected Mozambique from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after beating them 2-0 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
Phiona Nabbulime and Agnes Nabukenya scored the goals to give Uganda an 8-0 aggregate win over Mozambique.
Uganda took the lead in the 6th minute through Nabbulime, who headed in a corner from Margaret Kunihira. Nabukenya doubled Uganda’s lead in the 19th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box.
Uganda created many chances in the second half, but they failed to convert them. However, they didn’t need to, as their 2-0 win was enough to see them qualify for the next round.
Uganda will now face the winner of the tie between Senegal and Benin in November 2023.

Head coach Ayub Khalifa expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, but said that they need to work on their defense.
“We have noticed some mistakes in the defense and we’re going to work on them to make sure that we overcome our next opponents,” Khalifa said. “Our goal is to qualify for the World Cup.”
Captain Hadijah Nandago said that she was happy with the team’s victory, but that she would have liked to score more goals.
“I wanted to score at least two goals in the second leg, but unfortunately I didn’t,” Nandago said.
“But I thank Allah that as a team we managed to win the game and advance. We will work tirelessly to eject the next opponents.”
