Days after naming a provisional squad of 32 players for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Women’s qualifiers, Crested Cranes interim head coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula has added four She Maroons players to the team.

Striker Lillian Kasuubo, defender Najjuko Justine, goalkeeper Adong Proscovia, and midfielder Adongo Jackline are the four players that have been added to the squad.

The quartet had an impressive showing over the weekend when She Maroons defeated Asubo Ladies FC 5-0 in the opening league game.

Kasuubo netted a hat-trick in the game and was the first player to score three goals in a single game this season.

With the addition of the She Maroons players, the Crested Cranes squad now comprises six goalkeepers, ten defenders, eight midfielders, and twelve forwards, for a total of 36 players.

The team is currently in camp preparing for the double-header against Cameroon in the 2024 Olympic Women’s qualifiers.

Uganda reached this stage of the qualifiers by eliminating neighbors Rwanda on a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.

The Crested Cranes will host the first leg of the two-legged affair against Cameroon on October 26, 2023, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, with the return leg scheduled for five days later in Douala.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Cameroon will face either Nigeria or Ethiopia in February next year.
