Defending champions Mukono Pool Club started with a dominant display in the Nile Special National Pool League, securing a convincing 15-5 bonus-point win over newcomers Genesis in the ladies league that kicked off on Sunday.
National champion Rukia Nayiga and Rashidah Mutesi led the charge, each winning all four of their matches in a game held at Kampala Pool Arena in Kibuye, Kampala.
Star-studded Skin Samona, who boast of current on-form player Marion Kisakye ‘Ankah Sheila’ and Ritah Nimusiima, who have crossed from Scrap Buyers, beat visiting Akaanya 18-2 in another game played on the opening weekend on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Silverback narrowly defeated She Sinkers 11-9, while Scrap Buyers opted out on the eve of the league kick off.
In the men’s league, Roxberry remains a force to be reckoned with, cruising to a 15-5 victory over Greater Mukono. Ibrah Ssejjemba, Simon ‘Computer’ Lubuulwa, and Arnold Ssemukwano all contributed significantly to the win.
Upper Volta also secured a win, defeating Wakiso City 13-7. However, Pot It face significant questions for fielding an ineligible player, Mahad Mivule, who is contracted by Wakiso City.
This saw the competitions committee announce that their 13-7 win ober Nakawa Pool Rangers will be counted as a forfeit.
Roxberry are leading the table after two games with seven points following Sunday’s bonus win. Upper Volta is second with six points.
