2024 UMEA Solidarity Games launched

The 2024 UMEA Solidarity Games have been launched today at Masaka Secondary School.

The games will be hosted by Masaka Secondary School. They will officially kick off on Friday 29th March and climax on Monday 1st April.

Over 40 schools are expected to compete in Football, Netball (only girls), Volleyball, Handball, Badminton and Table Tennis.

While speaking to the Media, Hajji Mpungu Musa Musoke, the Headteacher of Masaka SS affirmed the school’s readiness to host this year’s edition.

“Masaka Secondary School is a big school with over 4500 students, we can accommodate everyone. Once you are here, you have to feel at home,” Hajji Mpungu said.

Hajji Lwembawo Hussein Kyagulanyi, the UMEA Solidarity Games General Secretary echoed the objectives and relevance of the games.

“The UMEA games began way back in 1989, about 35 years ago. Among the objectives of the games is to forge unity among Muslim-founded schools, to nurture talents, to advance Islamic values, to prepare teams for the National Championships and to foster the well-being of students among others,” Hajji Lwembawo said.

Kibuli Secondary School were the overall winner of the 2023 UMEA Solidarity Games held at Kawanda SS last year.
