Proscovia Alako led Soroti City Cricket Club as they defended their 2024 Women’s T20 League title by a 16-run win.

The title challengers of the afternoon, Olila Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bowl against their home town seniors.

Soroti City powered their way to victory thanks to a quick-fire 43 runs off 22 balls from Victoria Pearls opener Alako.

Olila gave Alako two second chances as she was dropped twice hence, her side putting 125 for six wickets on the board.

In the run chase, Olila failed to deal with Soroti City’s front-line bowlers, especially Evelyn Anyipo’s pace.

However, Captain Phiona Khulume (33 runs) took responsibility with Malisa Ariokot (32 runs) to string together a partnership of 42 and push the game to Soroti City.

Unfortunately, they ran out of resources falling short by 16 runs but in a contest that was worthy of being a final.

At the end of the day, Soroti City took home their second T20 crown while Olila CC will have to wait before adding to their 2017.
