Blacks Power FC’s time at the top of the FUFA Big League came to an end on Sunday after a 1-0 loss to Ntugasaze FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground in Wakiso.
The table-toppers clash was tense, with Ntugasaze seeking revenge for an earlier 2-1 defeat. The first half ended goalless, but midfielder Isaac Kiberu struck in the 58th minute to give Ntugasaze the lead.
Blacks Power tried to respond but couldn’t find the equalizer, dropping to second place on 39 points. Kigezi Homeboys returned to the summit with a 2-1 win over Nebbi Central at Kigezi Al-Madina Stadium, moving to 42 points.
Kataka FC strengthened their top-four hopes with a 2-0 win over CATDA FC in Mbale, while Paidha Black Angels were held 1-1 by Kaaro Karungi. Wakiso Giants eased their relegation worries with a 2-1 home win over Iganga United.
Mbale Heroes fought back from a 1-0 deficit to draw 1-1 with Soltilo Bright Stars at Maroons Stadium, Luzira. Ronald Bithum Nsumbiano had put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute, but Abraham Okello converted a late penalty to earn a point. Mbale Heroes now have 19 points, while Soltilo Bright Stars sit ninth with 28.
Kiyinda Boys crushed Onduparaka 3-0 at Bethelem, with goals from Julius Muzerwa, Frank Kalanda, and Michael Kimera, moving up to sixth place with 32 points. Bunyaruguru United also beat Young Elephants 3-0 at Nyamambuka Playground.
With four promotion spots to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and four relegation places, the FUFA Big League race is heating up. Blacks Power will host Wakiso Giants on Sunday, April 12, while Ntugasaze visits CATDA. Kigezi Homeboys aim to maintain their lead as the season enters its final stages.
