2025 Celtic Cup

  • Scotland 51-53 Uganda

Mary Nuba lit up the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Friday night, guiding the She Cranes to a nail-biting 53–51 win over hosts Scotland in the Celtic Cup.

Uganda, now unbeaten in three games, started slowly and struggled to match Scotland’s early fire. But Nuba’s accuracy kept the visitors steady, and the She Cranes closed the first quarter leading 16–12.

The second quarter turned physical as both sides battled for control. Scotland kept pressing, but Uganda refused to budge, holding a narrow 27–25 halftime lead.

Momentum shifted in the third quarter. Roared on by their home crowd, Scotland surged ahead and carried a 40–39 advantage into the final stretch.

Then Nuba took over, Uganda tightened their passing, improved their movement, and regained command in the fourth quarter.

With Nuba finishing almost everything that reached her, the She Cranes held their nerve to secure a hard earned two goal victory.

Nuba was deservedly named Player of the Match after a standout performance that powered Uganda through the tense contest.

The She Cranes face Zimbabwe on Saturday before closing their Celtic Cup campaign against Wales.
