The 2025 Buganda Plascon Masaza Cup returned with high jinks as Kyaggwe and Buweekula fiercely earned quarterfinals first leg advantages over Ssese and Busujju respectively.

On Sunday, September 28 at Mukono Bishops, Kyaggwe pulled a 2-0 well-deserved win with David Mugalu and debutant James Innocent Matege scoring in either half, which was split with heavy downpours.

In the game, which had much to talk about, Ssese got a chance to pull an away goal in the added minutes, but Kizito Abdul struck the woodwork from the spot and smashed the rebound far higher than the crossbar.

Matege, who came on as a second-half substitute for fellow new addition Phillip Kaggwa, was named Man of the Match amidst top performances from Geofrey Ssenyonga, Godfrey Alijore, Julius Kato Kalule, and Vincent Agaku.

With a two-goal advantage, Kyaggwe will travel to Ssese Island on Saturday, October 4 for a return leg at Lutoboka Ssaza Ground, with the winner on aggregate advancing to Semifinals as Kyaggwe looks for its third Semifinals appearance, and Ssese aiming for its second.

On the same line, away from home, Buweekula won the first leg over Busujju by a 1-0, thanks to Shafic Ssonko for the goal, though it was registered in the name of Jimmy Kalema Kiwemmere.

With the reverse fixture coming on Sunday, October 5, with Buweekula hosting, the winner on aggregate will progress to the Semifinals to face the winner between Kyaggwe and Ssese.

Elsewhere, Bugerere defeated Buluuli 2-1 at Ntenjeru Ssaza ground in Bugerere ahead of the return leg at St. Lawrence Migyera in Buluuli on Sunday, October 5.
