In preparation for the upcoming Masaza Cup quarterfinals return leg on Sunday, October 5, the Ssingo camp is in heightened mode following former player Jude Ssemugabi’s visit.

Ssemugabi visited on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and donated equipment, talked with players to boost their confidence against Mawokota in the return leg.

The visit took place at the Mityana Ssaza ground in Ssingo, where Ssingo hosts their matches.

Ssemugabi, who played for Ssingo for three seasons and won two trophies, urged the players to be humble, determined, strong in their team goals, and their own at the individual level.

In the first match at Buwama Play Grounds, Ssingo held Mawokota 0-0. The winner in the return leg shall be advancing to the Semifinals where they could face Bugerere or Buluuli.

Since 2018, when Ssingo won their second trophy with Ssemugabi being the top scorer in that season with 8 goals, Ssingo have never played again in the Masaza Cup final.

Since then, there is only one Ssingo Ssaza player to win the golden boot, being Amuli Mukasa in 2022, while no team has managed to win the Cup with top Ssingo, under Bastu Ssemuyaba, hope to rely on captain Shaban Kayongo, Elvis Ssekajugo, and Ismail Ramitala, while Mawokota, under Hussein Kato, also hope to rely on captain Amur Munogera, goalkeeper Abubakar Egesa, Arafat Nkoola, and Owen Mukisa.

In other matches, on Saturday, October 4th, Ssese will host Kyaggwe at Lutoboka Ssaza grounds. In the first leg on Sunday, September 28th, at Mukono Bishops, Kyaggwe won 2-0.

Meanwhile, Buweekula will face Busujju, with Buweekula leading 1-0 with a goal scored by Shafic Ssonko in Manyi at Kakindu Stadium when they were visiting Busujju.

However, at Mubende NTC, Buweekula looks set to miss 2025 Masaza top scorer Jimmy Kalema, with his club, Kitara FC, having a game within 24 hours of Buweekula’s game.

The other match will be played at the home of Buluuli as they host Bugerere at St. Lawrence Migyera.

Buluuli is looking to overturn the result. As a reminder, Bugerere won 2-1 at Ntenjeru Ssaza ground in the first leg on Sunday, October 28th.
