The 2025 National Basketball League (NBL) season has been postponed by a week. The new start date is March 21, 2025, instead of the originally scheduled March 14.
The decision to push back the season opener was reached during a recent meeting of the Executive Committee (ExCom) and NBL Committee, where officials cited unavoidable challenges as the primary reason for the delay.
To ensure smooth league operations, a revised fixture will be shared in advance, giving teams sufficient time to finalize their preparations.

During the same meeting, the NBL Committee members responsible for overseeing various league operations were officially confirmed.
The appointed officials include:
- Fredricks Owora – Chairperson
- Samuel David Lukaire – General Secretary
- Gordon Gumisiriza – Finance and Accounts
- Kamoga Ahmed – Sponsorship and Marketing
- Steven Nyeko – Technical and Operations
- Edwin Beinomugisha – Ex-Officio
The NBL Committee will oversee game day operations including financial management and gate collections.
However, key technical aspects such as team and player verification, scheduling, venue approvals, referee assignments, and dispute resolution will remain under the jurisdiction of the Technical and Competition Committees.
Additionally, the committee has been authorized to open and manage a Federation Account for handling all league funds.
