  • City Oilers 67-65 JT Jaguars

Namuwongo Blazers and City Oilers are through to the National Basketball League semifinals after sweeping their quarterfinal series at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Thursday.

The Blazers eased past Rezlife Saints 76-61. They led from the start, up five after the first quarter (23-18) and seven at halftime (42-35).

Jimmy Enabu’s late three in the third stretched the gap, and the Saints managed only 10 points in the final period as Blazers closed out the win.

Anthony Chukwurah (15), Enabu (14), and Micheal Makiadi (11) paced the Blazers, while Micheal Otieno (17) and Christopher Omanye (13) stood out for the Saints.

The Oilers had to fight harder, edging JT Jaguars 67-65. They trailed at every break — 20-16 after the first and 37-31 at halftime but rallied in the third to stay close. In the final moments, the defending champions found their edge to seal the narrow win.

Chad Bowie (White) and Aaron Eboyu (Black)

Kurt Wegscheider led with 20 points, backed by Mer Maker (14) and Fayed Baale. Jaguars’ Ian Lubwama (14) and George Agasi (10) pushed hard but couldn’t stop the sweep.

The wins send Blazers and Oilers into the semifinals as major contenders, Oilers chasing another crown, Blazers hungry for their first.

On the other hand, they are joined by Sommet Basketball Club who were the first to secure a semifinal spot while fans await to see who will complete the line-up UCU Canons or Kampala Rockets who face off in a decisive Game Three.
