- JT Jaguars 62-77 City Oilers
The City Oilers reminded everyone why they’re the National Basketball League’s record champions, easing past JT Jaguars with a 77-62 win in Game One of the quarterfinal playoffs at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday night.
After a shaky regular season, the Oilers reinforced their roster with Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider, and the impact was clear. They’ve taken a big step toward the semifinals, with Game Two now in sight.
The Jaguars started strong, trailing just 22-18 after the first quarter and edging ahead 37-33 at halftime, thanks to Abraham Dut’s late layup. But the third quarter belonged to the Oilers.
Locked in and relentless, they outscored the Jaguars to grab a 54-44 lead, then dominated the fourth quarter to seal a 15-point win.
Chad Bowie led the Oilers with 16 points, Mer Maker added 13, and Wegscheider chipped in 10.
For the Jaguars, Peter Sifuma battled hard with 13 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to stop the champions.
The Oilers now lead the best-of-three series 1-0 and head into Game Two with momentum firmly on their side.
Earlier on, in the Women’s game, JT Lady Jaguars swept Miracle Eaglets with a 72-60 result to get into the playoff semifinal stage.
