  • UCU Lady Canons 51-59 JKL Lady Dolphins

JKL Lady Dolphins bounced back in style to level their National Basketball League Playoffs semifinal series 1–1 after a hard-fought 59–51 win over UCU Lady Canons on Tuesday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

After losing Game One 57–46, the defending champions showed composure and tactical maturity to reclaim momentum in the best-of-five battle.

JKL’s defense was sharper this time, pressing high and disrupting UCU’s rhythm early. Star guard Brenda Ekone set the tone with her trademark pace, helping the Dolphins take a 15–11 first-quarter lead.

In the second quarter, Ritah Imanishimwe and Hope Akello hit back-to-back three-pointers to stretch the lead to 14 points at halftime.

UCU fought back after the break, trimming the gap to seven heading into the final period. But Ekone took charge again, sparking a personal 7–0 run that restored JKL’s cushion midway through the fourth.

By the final buzzer, JKL’s poise and defensive discipline sealed an eight-point win and renewed belief heading into Game Three.

Ekone and Akello led the charge with 16 points each, while Marina Anyango (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Sylvia Nakituuka (12 points) shone for UCU in defeat.

Game Three tips off Wednesday at 7p.m. at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
