JKL Lady Dolphins are back in the National Basketball League (NBL) finals after edging UCU Lady Canons 59–52 in a tense Game Five showdown at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday night.
The reigning champions showed their experience and composure to seal the semifinal series and set up a mouthwatering title clash with the JT Lady Jaguars.
Brenda Ekone’s early jumper gave the Dolphins momentum as they took a 15–11 lead after the first quarter.
UCU responded well, holding JKL to just eight points in the second to lead 25–23 at halftime.
After the break, the Dolphins regrouped, tightening their defense and reclaiming a slim two-point lead going into the fourth.
In the final minutes, UCU’s offense ran cold, allowing JKL to pull away and seal the win.
Zainah Lokwameri, Hope Akello, and Shadia Nassanga each scored 11 points in a balanced team effort, while Sylvia Nakituuka led UCU with 17 points and Matrina Anyango added 10 rebounds in a losing cause.
The victory keeps JKL’s title defense alive and sets up a thrilling finals battle against the red-hot JT Lady Jaguars.
