- Magic Stomers 37-63 JT Lady Jaguars
JT Lady Jaguars launched their National Basketball League semifinal campaign with a commanding 63-37 win over Magic Stormers in Game One of the best of five series at YMCA Court, Wandegeya, on Wednesday night.
The Jaguars started hot, with Brenda Kayaga drilling a corner three to spark a 10-0 run. By the end of the first quarter, they led by 12 points and never looked back.
Coach Sudi Ulanga’s side dominated the second quarter, moving the ball crisply and tearing apart the Stormers’ zone defense to build a 19-point halftime lead.
The third quarter saw a scare when forward Sarah Ageno went down awkwardly and was stretchered off. But the Jaguars stayed locked in, limiting the Stormers to just eight points and stretching their lead to 23 heading into the final period.
With the game out of reach, Ulanga emptied his bench, and the Jaguars cruised to a 26-point victory.
Mercy Batamuliza starred with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Shakira Nanvubya added 16 and Kayaga finished with 11. For the Stormers, only Kur Ajah reached double figures with 12 points.
The Jaguars now lead the series 1-0 and will aim to double their advantage in Game Two.
