JT Lady Jaguars are through to their first-ever National Basketball League Finals after sweeping Magic Stormers with a 59–43 win in Game Three of the semifinals on Thursday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The Stormers started brightly, taking an early lead before Brenda Kayaga’s two quick three-pointers swung momentum the Jaguars’ way.
Angella Auma’s buzzer-beater closed the first quarter with the Stormers narrowly ahead, 15–14.
Stormers’ hopes took a hit in the second quarter when star player Kur Ajah went down injured, allowing the Jaguars to edge ahead by halftime.
After the break, turnovers hurt the Stormers, and Rhoda Naggita’s steady free throws pushed the Jaguars’ lead to five heading into the final period.
The Jaguars sealed the game with suffocating defense, holding the Stormers to just six points in the last quarter to claim a dominant 16-point win and complete the sweep.
Rhoda Naggita and Brenda Kayaga led the way with 14 points each, while Mercy Batamuliza and Sarah Ageno controlled the glass with 20 and 14 rebounds respectively.
For the Stormers, Angella Auma scored 11 points, and Christine Nakito added 14 rebounds in a losing effort.
