  • Namuwongo Blazers 68-60 UCU Canons

Namuwongo Blazers took control of their National Basketball League semifinal with a 68–60 win over UCU Canons in Game 1 at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday night.

Coach Stephen Nyeko’s smart rotations kept the Blazers fresh as they raced to a 27–16 first-quarter lead, feeding off a loud home crowd.

UCU clawed back to trail 40–32 at halftime and 56–49 entering the fourth, but ice-cold three-point shooting (3-of-20) doomed their comeback.

Ivan Muhwezi led Namuwongo with 14 points, while Joel Lukoji added 12 and Anthony Chukwubuka 10. Joel Kayira stood out for UCU with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Blazers hold a 1–0 edge in the best of five series, with Game 2 promising another fierce battle.
