- City Oilers 83-86 Sommet BC
Sommet Basketball Club kept their season alive with a gritty 86–83 win over defending champions City Oilers in the National Basketball League playoffs on Wednesday night at the YMCA Court.
The victory ties the best of five semifinal at 2–2 and sets up a winner takes all Game Five on Friday at the same venue.
Sommet, who shocked the Oilers in Game One before losing the next two, showed resolve in a tense, back and forth contest.
Rogers John Baptist Dauna’s late free throw ended the first quarter tied at 20, and veteran Ben Komakech drilled a buzzer-beating three to send the teams into halftime locked at 44.
Mark Ngobi’s driving layup gave Sommet a 61–59 lead heading into the fourth. The Oilers pushed hard, but Sommet’s defense and clutch free throws sealed the result.
Fataki Nyembo led the charge with a dominant double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds. Ngobi added 20 points, while Tembo Kasereka chipped in 16.
Titus Lual and Kurt Wegscheider paced the Oilers with 15 points each, and Mer Maker added 12, but it wasn’t enough to stop Sommet from forcing a decisive finale.
The Winner of Game Five will face Namuwongo Blazers in the best of seven final.
