- Kampala Rockets 38-64 UCU Canons
The UCU Canons shook off a shaky start to their National Basketball League quarterfinal series, roaring back to oust the Kampala Rockets and grab the last ticket to the semifinals.
After dropping Game 1, the university side regrouped to win the next two, wrapping it up with a dominant 64–38 victory at the Jaguars Den on Sunday night.
UCU set the tone early. Marvin Jesse Okurut’s driving layup capped a 21–10 first quarter, and their defense locked in, holding the Rockets to eight points in the second for a 34–18 halftime cushion.
The Rockets briefly rallied in the third, edging it 14–13, but UCU crushed any hopes with a 17–6 final quarter to close out a 26-point statement win.
Jimmy Otim scored 18, while Ibanda Lwabaga and Okurut added 10 each. Puati Ozias had 15 and Mpiya Juf 11 for the Rockets, but the night belonged to the relentless Canons, who join the Sommet BC, City Oilers and Namuwongo Blazers in the NBL semifinals.
