The UCU Lady Canons pulled off a spirited comeback to edge KIU Rangers 57-52 on Sunday at Lugogo Indoor Arena, completing a 2-0 sweep to reach the National Basketball League playoff semifinals.

Down by double digits at halftime, UCU rallied in the third quarter behind Sylvia Nakituka, Matrina Anyango, Shila Lamunu, and Zoe Atek.

Nakituka’s long-range shooting, Anyango’s work inside, and Lamunu’s fast-break layup tied the game at 35 before Anyango gave UCU a 37-35 lead heading into the fourth.

KIU, led by Elizabeth Akol and Sharon Kirabo with 15 points each, briefly regained control at 45-39.

But back-to-back threes from Nakituka and Mariam Asacha, plus Lamunu’s clutch layup, sealed the win. Lamunu led UCU with 12 points, while Nakituka added 11, Anyango 10, and Atek 9.

Meanwhile, defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins cruised past UPDF Lady Tomahawks to also book their semifinal spot. After a 79-52 Game One win at the Jaguars Den, JKL closed the series with a dominant 77-55 victory.
