Kurt Wegscheider was unstoppable on Sunday night, powering City Oilers to a 90–83 victory over Namuwongo Blazers in Game 2 of the National Basketball League Finals at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The defending champions now hold a commanding 2–0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Oilers’ power forward turned the game into his personal show, erupting for 37 points in a dazzling display of strength and skill.

From the tip-off, Wegscheider set the tone, blowing past defenders, attacking in transition, and dropping 18 of the Oilers’ 24 first-quarter points.

The Blazers, led by Nigerian forward Anthony Chukwurah, fought hard but were undone by turnovers and defensive lapses.

Fayed Bbale (9 points) punished them from deep with three straight triples late in the second quarter, giving the Oilers a 43–39 halftime lead.

The Blazers roared back in the third quarter through Innocent Ochera and Chukwurah, who combined for 24 of their team’s 30 points in the period.

Ochera’s hot shooting gave the Blazers a brief 67–58 lead before a controversial out of bounds call broke their momentum. Veteran Ben Komakech then drilled a buzzer-beater to cut the deficit heading into the fourth.

Momentum swung back to the Oilers early in the final quarter. A foul call on Arthur Wanyoto, who appeared to have cleanly blocked Chad Bowie’s three-point attempt, sparked a technical.

Bowie (16 points) calmly sank four free throws to tie the game at 71, and from there the Oilers took control.

Chukwurah fouled out soon after, and the Blazers’ resistance faded. Ochera finished with 23 points, while Chukwurah posted 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Jimmy Enabu added 11 points and 8 boards for the Oilers, who now sit firmly in control of the series.

In the women’s finals, the JKL Lady Dolphins showed their championship pedigree, leveling their series 1–1 with a 52–38 win over JT Lady Jaguars.
