Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has today, September 30, at FUFA Stadium Kadiba announced a squad of 26 players, handing Allan Oyirwoth and Bobosi Byaruhanga a call back to the National team.
With the two changes announced today, it is a reversal of Elvis Bwomono and Patrick Jonah Kakande being left out of the last squad that gained maximum points over Mozambique and Algeria.
Heading into the international league break, the Cranes shall start preparations for games on October 2; the double header will be against Botswana on 9 and Algeria on 14.
With Uganda holding few chances to qualify, Put is moving with his head up in hope to make history with Uganda qualifying for the first time in the 2026 World Cup.
Uganda’s few chances may lie on miracles as they sit four points adrift of Algeria, the leader of Group G; before facing Uganda, they will meet Somalia. Another slight chance for Uganda is to go through global qualifiers, as they have to be at the top of the group runners-up, but again, they are seventh in ranking.
With Burkina Faso sitting fourth, leveled with Uganda on points, along with Cameroon and Namibia, as they all fight for one slot.
