For the first time, the City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge gets close to 2000 participants for the first time in its 8th edition, which Serves off at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The highly anticipated Badminton Challenge attracts junior and senior players from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and this year, Cocos Island joined.
Badminton Uganda Chief Executive Officer Simon Mugabi revealed, “This time we have got close to 2000 participants. It is very interesting to have that number participating in this year’s East Africa Badminton competition.”
At the opening event, the company’s Marketing Executive Mahad Twaha assured the sponsorship on a long-term future as one of the key factors for the company to continue engaging with the community.
He noted, “We are very proud of this partnership as we look forward to continue engaging with the community. We find badminton as the genuine route to reach the community. This is our 8th year, and I highly believe that we are with them for many coming years, because we also find it an important cause; it also helps us to nurture young lads.”
The games are going on up to Sunday, October 19, with schools playing from morning to 11:00 AM, while other categories, including Universities, Corporate Professionals and others, playing from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
