Uganda Badminton rising star Abigail Ndagire stole the show at the inaugural Uganda Badminton Kabojja International School Tournament, winning three gold medals as the two-day event wrapped up Sunday in Buziga, Kampala.

The tournament drew 120 players from 15 schools, but Ndagire was in a class of her own. She claimed the U19 girlsโ€™ singles, U15 girlsโ€™ singles, and womenโ€™s doubles titles.

In the U19 final, she overpowered Kabojja Internationalโ€™s Megan Owomugisha 15โ€“1, 15โ€“2 after sweeping past Dhulupudi Sudharshini and Elizabeth Louiza. Teaming with Swaburah Nayiga, she dominated the womenโ€™s doubles 15โ€“2, 15โ€“3.

Ndagire then capped her run with the U15 crown, defeating Nayiga 15โ€“5, 11โ€“8 following emphatic wins over Tendo Nakimuli and Kristabel Ahereza.

โ€œIโ€™m thrilled to win three gold medals,โ€ Ndagire said.

โ€œThis gives me confidence to aim for bigger tournaments like the U15 City Tyres Championship and World Badminton Federation events.โ€

Other standouts included Abu Althaf, who took the boysโ€™ U19 and U15 singles, while Nayiga added the U13 girlsโ€™ title.

Organizers hailed the event as a boost for grassroots badminton and plan to make it an annual fixture.
