Uganda Badminton rising star Abigail Ndagire stole the show at the inaugural Uganda Badminton Kabojja International School Tournament, winning three gold medals as the two-day event wrapped up Sunday in Buziga, Kampala.

The tournament drew 120 players from 15 schools, but Ndagire was in a class of her own. She claimed the U19 girls’ singles, U15 girls’ singles, and women’s doubles titles.

In the U19 final, she overpowered Kabojja International’s Megan Owomugisha 15–1, 15–2 after sweeping past Dhulupudi Sudharshini and Elizabeth Louiza. Teaming with Swaburah Nayiga, she dominated the women’s doubles 15–2, 15–3.

Ndagire then capped her run with the U15 crown, defeating Nayiga 15–5, 11–8 following emphatic wins over Tendo Nakimuli and Kristabel Ahereza.

“I’m thrilled to win three gold medals,” Ndagire said.

“This gives me confidence to aim for bigger tournaments like the U15 City Tyres Championship and World Badminton Federation events.”

Other standouts included Abu Althaf, who took the boys’ U19 and U15 singles, while Nayiga added the U13 girls’ title.

Organizers hailed the event as a boost for grassroots badminton and plan to make it an annual fixture.
