Africa Cup Of Nations | Saturday December 27 | Group D
- Senegal 1-1 DR Congo
- Benin 1-0 Botswana
Sadio Mané and Cédric Bakambu were on target in Tangier as Senegal and DR Congo settled for a 1-1 draw, a result that left both sides well placed for a spot in the knockout stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Bakambu broke the deadlock just after the hour. Theo Bongonda’s low effort slipped from the grasp of Edouard Mendy, and the DR Congo striker reacted fastest to tap in from close range, briefly putting the Leopards in control.

Senegal, however, responded with the calm of champions. Eight minutes later, substitute Ibrahim Mbaye drove at the Congolese backline and forced a save from Lionel Mpasi.
The ball fell kindly to Mané, who kept his composure to finish despite a last-ditch challenge from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The draw keeps Senegal top of Group D on four points, level with DR Congo but ahead on goal difference. Benin follow closely with three points, while Botswana sit bottom.
