- Nigeria 4-0 Mozambique
Nigeria sent a clear message at the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday night, sweeping aside Mozambique 4–0 to march into the quarter-finals.
It was a performance built on sharp movement, ruthless finishing and a front three that Mozambique simply could not live with.
Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams set the tone from the start. Just two minutes in, Osimhen thought he had opened the scoring, only for VAR to rule him offside, a warning that arrived early and often.
The breakthrough came in the 20th minute. Adams surged down the flank and pulled the ball back for Lookman, who calmly guided his shot into the top corner.
Nigeria’s grip tightened soon after. Adams delivered again, this time floating in a cross that Osimhen finished with ease to make it 2–0.
Any hope of a response vanished after the break. Lookman slid a low pass across the box and Osimhen arrived at the back post to tap in his second, effectively ending the contest.
Nigeria’s dominance was complete in the 75th minute. Lookman picked out Adams with a perfectly weighted pass and the forward smashed his effort past Ernan Siluane at the near post to round off a fine night.
The Super Eagles pushed for more, with Moses Simon and Raphael Onyadika both going close, but four goals were enough. It was a controlled, confident display that underlined Nigeria’s credentials.
They now move into the last eight of the 2025 AFCON, where Algeria or DR Congo await in Marrakech.
