Toby Sibbick wore his frustration plainly after Uganda Cranes began their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 3–1 loss to Tunisia at the Stade Olympique de Rabat on Tuesday night.

Despite being one of Uganda’s best performers, the defender focused on the mistakes that turned the game in his post match remarks.
“It was a tough one to take,” Sibbick said. “The goals we conceded were easy, and that’s disappointing. We’ll review the game, see what we can fix and try to win the next one.”
Uganda showed fight for long stretches but were punished for lapses against a sharp Tunisian side. Individual praise offered Sibbick little comfort.
“I want the team to win more than anything,” he said. “It’s disappointing, but we reflect and move on. Tomorrow is a new day.”
Tunisia’s Hannibal Mejbri struck a respectful note afterward, praising Uganda’s effort in difficult conditions. The midfielder singled out substitute Travis Mutyaba for his impact.

“They were really good,” Hannibal said. “In football now, everyone has a chance. I hope they get points and qualify. Number 10 was impressive.”
The night summed up the contrast, frustration mixed with resolve for Uganda, confidence with respect from Tunisia.
Uganda return on Saturday December 27 for an East African derby against Tanzania, while Tunisia face Nigeria the same day, matches likely to shape Group C early.
