Uganda’s U-17 side, the Uganda Cubs, booked their place in the 2025 AFCON U-17 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers semifinals even before stepping onto the pitch for their final Group B match on Wednesday.

Sudan’s 1–0 win over Burundi earlier in the day guaranteed Uganda’s progression, turning their clash with Djibouti into a formality.

At the Dire Dawa Stadium, Uganda produced a ruthless performance, cruising to a 6–0 victory to close their group campaign in style.

Thomas Ogema struck first, followed by Ukasha Jemba to send the Cubs into halftime with a 2–0 lead.

They returned even sharper. Brian Olwa netted twice, while Arnold Kayemba and Fahad Ismail added a goal each to complete the rout and reinforce Uganda’s growing confidence ahead of the knockout rounds.

Next up is a semifinal showdown with hosts Ethiopia, who topped Group A with 10 points from four matches, sealing first place with a narrow 1–0 win over Kenya.

Group B winners Tanzania face Kenya in the other semifinal.

Both matches will be played on 30 November at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, where Uganda will look to ride their momentum straight into the final.
