The Uganda men’s 7s team won all three group games to top the standings at the end of day one in Mauritius and put themselves in prime territory heading into the knockouts.
The Cranes recovered from a slow start coming from down twice to eventually win 22-17 courtesy of tries from skipper Munyani, Denis Etwau, Timothy Kisiga and Philip Wokorach with the cherry on top.
The second game was more watchable for the fans and followers of the Cranes, with their team mastering a humongous 43-00 win against the Tunisians. Speedsters Norbert Okeny and Denis Etwau were peerless, registering a hat-trick and brace respectively with ALex Aturinda and Karim Arinaitwe rounding out the fun.

After securing a place in the top 8, Uganda made light ork of Burkina Faso, registering a clean 29-00 score thanks to a brace from Norbert Okeny, and a try each from Denis Etwau, Timothy Kisiga and Philip Wokorach.
Owing to the superior points difference (+77), Uganda ranked on top after day one with South Africa (+68) coming second and Madagscar (+47) rounding up the top three.
The 2022 Africa Champions now wait on the ranking system to name their quarterfinals opponent ahead of what should be a tougher Day two of the Rugby Africa Men’s 7’s.
