Norbert Okeny stole the show down in Zimbabwe, as Uganda won their second game of the Africa Men’s 7s.

Norbert Okeny scored four tries to add to his one from early in the morning to inspire Uganda to a 36-19 win.

Burkina Faso continued their menace from the game against Zimbabwe, scoring first, but the reigning champions were equal to the task when they equalised through the goosestepping Philip Wokorach.

Norbert Okeny got a double in the first half to ensure Uganda went into the break leading 17-12.

Pius Ogena continued his fire start, opening his account of the game in the second stanza before Norbert Okeny got a double in the second half to push Uganda to a 36-19 win.

Given the nature of the tournament, Uganda has qualified for the quarterfinals and now needs to win just to get in a good position ahead of the seeding for day 2.

The Rugby Africa Men’s 7s are following the new World Rugby-adopted Olympic Games format, where the twelve teams in Zimbabwe have been grouped into three pools for Day One, with the top eight ranked proceeding to the Cup Quarterfinals on Day Two.

Uganda face hosts Zimbabwe in the last game of the day, in a rematch of the 2022 finale – with top qualifications status on the line.

Zimbabwe drew their opening game before beating Algeria 47-05 in the second game.
