The Uganda Rugby Cranes, Africa 7s defending champions, landed safely in Zimbabwe ahead of the Africa 7s competition, where they will be aiming to defend their crown.
Uganda will meet with Zimbabwe, whom they dispatched to win the 2022 Men’s Africa 7s in Kampala. Uganda will also face Burkina Faso, whom they baptised 50-00 in the group stages of the 2022 Africa 7s, before lining up against a stubborn Algerian outfit with the hope of securing Olympic representation.
Following the new World Rugby-adopted Olympic Games format, the twelve teams in Zimbabwe have been grouped into three pools for Day One, with the top eight ranked proceeding to the Cup Quarterfinals on Day Two.
Uganda are without former skipper Micheal Wokorach and resident bolters Desire Ayera and Timothy Kisiga, but the return of Isaac Massangazira and powerhouse Pius Ogena has buoyed the squad.
