2025 Africa Netball Cup | Semifinal

  • Malawi 33- 46 Uganda

Uganda’s She Cranes produced a calm, assured performance to silence the home crowd in Lilongwe, beating hosts Malawi Queens 46–33 to book a place in the final of the 2025 Africa Netball Cup just like it was in 2024.

Uganda settled quickly and never looked overawed by the atmosphere. Sharp passing and disciplined defending helped the She Cranes take early control, edging the first quarter 12–7 and setting the tone for the contest.

Malawi struggled to find rhythm under sustained pressure, missing chances that Uganda ruthlessly punished.

By halftime, the visitors had stretched their lead to nine goals and went into the break firmly in charge at 24–15.

Head coach’s faith in a settled starting seven, Margaret Baagala, Lillian Achola, Shadia Nassanga, Racheal Nanyonga, Shaffie Nalwanja, Ayaa Gloria and Christine Nakitto, paid off again.

She Cranes dominated the third quarter 11–7, pushing the score to 35–22 and putting the result beyond doubt.

Uganda then managed the final quarter with maturity. Faridah Kadondi and Norah Lunkuse were introduced, but the tempo and control remained as the She Cranes closed out the game comfortably.

Shadia Nassanga led the scoring with composure in the shooting circle, while Lillian Achola pulled the strings in attack, keeping Malawi on the back foot throughout.

The win, Uganda’s second over Malawi this year, highlights the She Cranes’ growing consistency at the top level.

They now turn their focus to Sunday’s final against continental giants South Africa Proteas, who swept aside Zimbabwe 84–32 in the other semi-final.

This will have an echo of revenge after the Proteas thumped She Cranes in 2024 final.
