Africa T20 Cup: Cricket Cranes beat Botswana to make winning start

Uganda’s Cricket Cranes made a winning start to the T20 Cup, with victory over Botswana at the Willowmoore Park, Benoni in South Africa.

Uganda fielded first and it was justified with some commendable bowling, inducing Botswana’s fall of 103 and 8 wickets.

The Cranes managed victory with 10 balls to go, eventually winning by seven wickets.

Alpesh Ramjani, who was only making his debut, was impressive with four wickets giving away only 17 runs.

Star player, Simon Ssesazi managed 37 runs, with Riazati Ali adding 36 to send to Uganda to a dream start.

The Cricket Cranes will not be back in action until Sunday when they take on Mozambique, while the Ghana encounter is slated for September 20.

Only the top two teams from the two groups will hit the semi-finals.

The tournament is part of Uganda’s preparation for the World Cup qualifiers bound for March 2023.
