Uganda’s rising breakdance star George Ntulume made an instant impact on the continental stage, winning a silver medal as breakdance debuted at the African Youth Games.
Competing at his first major international event, the 17-year-old showed confidence beyond his years.
He came through a demanding group stage with a 3–0 win over Senegal’s Cise, a 1–1 draw against Seny of Senegal, and a narrow 2–1 loss to Algeria’s Driss, results that earned him a place in the knockout rounds.
Ntulume stepped up in the semifinals, overpowering Tunisia’s Saji 3–0 to reach the final. His run ended there, as Angola’s Julio claimed gold with a 2–0 victory, while Algeria’s Driss took bronze.
Silver, however, felt like a breakthrough. “I’m happy and proud to have made it to the final,” Ntulume said, a reflection of both a strong debut and a promising future for Ugandan breakdance.
