Uganda’s 3X3 basketball girls team saw their African Youth Games journey end in the quarterfinals after a tight 10–8 loss to Côte d’Ivoire, a game that slipped away after a bright start in Angola.
Uganda began the tournament on a high, brushing aside Benin 12–5 with an energetic and composed performance that hinted at a deep run.
But the challenge stiffened in their next game, where the hosts Angola shut them down in an 8–3 defeat.
The quarterfinal against Côte d’Ivoire was the team’s most dramatic outing. Uganda stormed into a 6–0 lead and looked in control, only for Côte d’Ivoire to rally and snatch the win in the closing stages.
While the exit was painful, the campaign showed the team’s potential and offered valuable experience against strong continental opposition.
Uganda’s results:
• Beat Benin 12–5
• Lost to Angola 3–8
• Lost to Côte d’Ivoire 8–10 (quarterfinals)
