This year’s tournament is particularly special, as it draws participants from seven SOM Inter Project Chess Academy centres, spanning major cities like Kampala, Gulu, Jinja, Kagadi, Masaka, Hoima, and Budaka.

The event promises to be a melting pot of diverse skill levels and styles as young competitors prepare to go head-to-head in both the Junior and Open categories.

A Tournament for All Ages and Skill Levels

The T.E.C.H World Chess Championship will be divided into categories for both boys and girls, ensuring that all players, whether in Primary or Secondary school, have the chance to showcase their strategic prowess.

These categories will foster a fair and competitive environment, with students of similar ages and academic levels facing off for top honours.

Impressive Prizes to Motivate Young Players

As an added incentive, the organizers have put together a range of exciting prizes designed to motivate and reward the young chess players.

The top performers in each category will receive a host of prizes, including cash rewards, certificates, medals, and trophies.

However, the ultimate prize at stake is a one-year scholarship, which will be awarded to the winner of each section.

This scholarship represents a golden opportunity for young chess enthusiasts to further develop their skills and pursue their passion for the game.

A Collaborative Effort

This exciting tournament is the result of a collaboration between several key organizations, including SOM Chess Academy, the Robert Katende Initiative, Sports Outreach Kiwawu, and T.E.C.H for the World.

These entities have come together to provide a platform for young players to shine, while also promoting the importance of chess as a tool for development and education.

Eyes on the Future

As preparations continue, all eyes will be on the talented young players who are gearing up to make their mark on the world stage.

The 2nd Annual T.E.C.H World Chess Championship is more than just a competition; it is an opportunity for these young minds to demonstrate their problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and dedication to mastering the game.
