The Uganda Boxing Federation Champions League makes its long-awaited return to Lugogo Indoor Arena this Saturday, June 28, with fireworks expected in Week 5 of Season 4.
Headlining the night is a highly anticipated Light Welterweight (63.5kg) Elite clash between Ambayo Patrick of Boggie Boxing Club and Lukanga’s Farahat Maninora, a duel packed with ambition, and unfinished business.
Ambayo, a fighter who climbed every rung from grassroots tournaments to the national spotlight, is eyeing a perfect start to the season.
With one win already, he now faces a bigger challenge, stopping Maninora, the heavy-hitting prospect who skipped the grassroots grind but has struggled to back up his hype.
Maninora, never one to hide his confidence, has already set the tone.
“I’m taking home this season’s belt,” he told The Site media.
“The rest are playing catch-up including Ambayo and Reagan Magumba.”
But Ambayo isn’t backing down. Known for his work ethic and resilience, the Boggie fighter isn’t just looking to win, he wants to prove that heart beats hype.
Another major highlight is the return of Bashir Serugo aka Horse Power. The Zebra Boxing Club star takes on Kasasa Isaac of Katabi in a Light Middleweight (71kg) Elite bout.
Serugo’s last outing ended in a knockout loss to eventual champion Owen Kibira. Now, he returns with renewed hunger, hoping to reassert himself as a title contender.
Kasasa, meanwhile, is carrying the weight of Katabi’s ambitions. With his club yet to make a major mark this season, fellow boxer Kaddu Julius will be banking on him to deliver.
In the women’s division, COBAP’s Muduwa Brenda battles Lukanga’s Nantongo Shakira in a clash fueled by pride, rivalry, and club supremacy. It’s more than a bout, it’s a battle for dominance between two of Uganda’s top boxing stables.
The night features over 20 bouts, with rising names like Kakooza Thomas, Ubayi Kakande, and Ssesanga Kenneth expected to bring early fireworks.
