Ugandaโs Arthur Kaluma has officially signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, taking his first big step into the NBA.
The 6-foot-7 forward impressed during the NBA Summer League, playing four games for the 17-time champions. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game, shooting an efficient 45% from the field.
His earlier performances earned him an Exhibit 10 contract, often used to develop young talent through training camp or the G League.
Kalumaโs path to the NBA spans three college programs. He began at Creighton, where he helped the Bluejays reach the Elite Eight in 2023, then played a season at Kansas State before finishing at the University of Texas.
At Texas, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in his final year, showing strength, skill, and versatility.
Internationally, Kaluma has proudly worn Ugandaโs jersey, playing in the 2021 AfroBasket and the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. His rise has made him a key figure in Ugandaโs growing basketball story.
He joins the Lakers alongside RJ Davis, Eric Dixon, and Augustas Marฤiulionis, young players hoping to earn their spot in the league. For Kaluma, itโs the start of a new journey in Los Angeles, with dreams of making it big in the NBA.
