Ahead of his highly anticipated move to Italy, Arua Hill SC youngster Ronald Innocent Media has finally caught his flight.

He is set to join Promozone Championship side Lucera Calcio after an agreement was reached, months back.

Last month, in a social media post, Calcio confirmed the player was set to join them, and despite Arua Hill insisting he was still contracted, a move is now all but done.

Then, the Italian outfit posted; “a new lion is coming to town, straight from the Uganda Premier League.”

For starters, after Arua Hill denying Media a move to Italy, the 20 year-old wrote to FUFA demanding an immediate release.

“I am writing to seek for a release from my former club (Arua Hill) because I had a contract with them from 2020 to 2022,” he said in the letter.

“I am seeking for help from your office so that I can get a release from Arua Hill SC and join another club of my choice.”

“After the expiry of my contract, the club management tried to talk to me to renew the contract but I refused, the coach sent me UGX5M via mobile money which I resent back,” Media explained his case.

Media’s move to Italy comes after he impressed last season, scoring nine times in 17 league appearances for Arua Hill.

He is set to be the third player from the UPL to join Lucera Calcio, after Osca Mawa and Iddi Abdul Wahid.

His move to Italy is a great opportunity for him to develop his career and test himself against some of the best players in the world.

I am not a prophet but he is likely to fail, the problem with Ugandan players is greediness, you can go without disrespecting your former bosses who were like parents to you,it was stupid to take Arua Hill to the committee, many clubs pay tuition for those young players, school requirements and even personal requirements,so it’s totally bad to disrespect such people, that’s not the way to pay them, you can go when you are in good terms with the club, some people will say that the club was frustrating his move, yes it might be true but there was a reason why, that’s why I no longer groom those football players, they are ungrateful and forgetful
