The Referees Disciplinary Panel (RDP) has banned assistant referee Juma Osire for six months. Osire disallowed Kitara’s second goal in the match they lost 2-1 to Vipers at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.
“The Referees Disciplinary Panel (RDP) has suspended Mr. Juma Osire for six months. Osire was the first assistant referee in Match No.76 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League between Vipers SC Vs Kitara FC at St. Mary’s Stadium.”
“In the 1st minute of additional time after the 90 minutes, Kitara FC scored a goal which was disallowed by the first assistant referee for an offside,” read communication from disciplinary panel.
“However, it appeared from the video footage of the incident that none of the players from Kitara FC was in an offside position. Osire is therefore suspended from officiating football at all levels for six months that comes into force immediately.”
“Following his repeated pattern of behavior, Mr. Osire Juma is forwarded to the Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee for further investigation”.
This is not the first time Osire is suspended. He was given a one month ban for his role in the sending off Police FC goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.
He had judged the goalkeeper of handling the ball outside box. Several reviews by the Referees Disciplinary Panel revealed that Ochan was still in the box.
